Recent changes

SPACEWatch 6 is the current version of SPACEWatch Desktop, Server and Enterprise Editions. This is a major version update. Click a screenshot on the left to see it in action. Updating your installation

To update your SPACEWatch installation:

• Download the most recent software
• Uninstall your current installation (Settings - Add/Remove Programs)
• Run the downloaded program and follow the on-screen instructions - remember to install SPACEWatch into the same location (e.g. C:\Program Files\SPACEWatch)

System Requirements

SPACEWatch pro is a Windows application and is supported on Windows 2000, 2003 and XP. There are no special hardware requirements, however SPACEWatch pro is a database application, so for optimum performance we recommend more than minimum memory for the Windows version you are using.

For full function on Netware networks you will need a Novell Client. For full function on IBM Lotus networks you will need a Lotus Notes 5.0.2b or later client.

You can check your version by looking on the Help - About window or using Explorer to display the properties of swatch.exe and clicking on the Version tab. The table below tells you a little about recent updates to SPACEWatch. Click on the diamonds to see more detail about a particular release. If you have a licence for SPACEWatch you can download and install any minor version updates without buying a new licence - simply download the software from this site:

			ASHE-76HKEU	Domino Edition: when choosing servers to manage, the list provided is now returned much more quickly using the Notes API rather than names.nsf lookup.
			ASHE-76HKJH	UI improvements, e.g. you can now use the Escape key as a shortcut to close most windows; more windows have "right click" context menus.
			ASHE-76HKKC	Domino Edition: File actions including copy/move/delete/archive can now be applied to file attachments in local or server-based Notes databases. With the ASM (Automated Storage Management) add-on these can be automated. Note: File actions will fail if you are applying them to files in local NSF databases, and the database is already open in a Notes client. This is a Lotus Notes limitation - to share access to an NSF database with more than one user at a time it must be accessed via a Domino Server.
			ASHE-76HKLF	Directory Find has been improved in performance significantly via optimisation of database query. This is particularly noticeable when returning large results sets.
			ASHE-772HNJ	Quick Answers now lists files rather than just a summary for the "largest files" action.
			ASHE-772HSC	Data in local SPACEWatch data files can now include long directory paths of up to 8000 characters.
			ASHE-76HKH3	The load that data collection places on your source systems can now be varied via a new swatch.ini setting. In "My Documents\SPACEWatch\swatch.ini" simply add this setting: [SpaceWatch] ScanPain=xxx Where "xxx" is a value from 0 (maximum load/fastest collection) to 500 (minimum load/slowest collection).
			ASHE-76HKJ4	MySQL: file type association did not always appear in merged data.
			ASHE-76HKKV	Date checking on data merge has been improved to address further occasional inconsistencies that some source systems can generate (particularly Microsoft Exchange).
			ASHE-76NHKZ	MySQL date fixes: various fixes to the MySQL interface to workaround bugs in MySQL 5.0/5.1. Recommended for any users of SPACEWatch who exploit a MySQL database for storing space data.
			ASHE-76NHLQ	SQL Server locale update: date formats are now properly handled where your database is setup with users who have non-English settings.
			ASHE-772HLB	Certain files with special characters did not always merge correctly into the SQL database in a format that could then be used by ASM.
			ASHE-772HR5	A bug in the Novell Client for Windows was affecting file ownership on Netware file systems when the filename contained extended ascii characters. This has now been worked around.
			ASHE-772HRX	SQLServer 2003 SP3 and SP4 have a bug that causes a data merge failure under certain circumstances. This is fixed by Microsoft in SQL Server 2005 but a work-around has been included in SPACEWatch to remove the need for upgrade.
